Currently my work lends itself to a certain sense of chaos.  I perceive chaos and conflict to be dominate forces in contemporary society and I am particularly interested in how these forces affect individuals.  9/11 has made apparent the dangers of modern existence, and now the US works to ensure these dangers through our continued efforts in the war on terror.  The Iraq war shows a desire for environments that foster violence, in the same way Katrina shows a willingness for chaos to exist amongst our own citizens.  This is my perception, and I it see reflected in current pop culture, specifically action movies and video games.  Action movies are defined by the conflict of a battle, war, or personal vendetta, and the most popular video games exist solely as environments for violence. These situations, real and imagined, strip the guidance of societal norms from the individual, leaving them to fend for themselves, usually in a violent way.  How the chaos of the violent collapse of society affects singular human actions and interactions is what intrigues me and forms the focal point of my work.
